We hope you’re enjoying your summer, and we’re excited to see you back on campus soon. As we look ahead to the upcoming semester, we’re excited to share several important updates and events from the Sailing Club.
⚓ Sailing Through O-Week
We’re thrilled to host a special “Try Sailing” event during Orientation Week!
Date: Wednesday, August 26
Time: 4:00–7:00 PM
Location: Between the Super 8 and the Skate park
This is a great opportunity for new members to meet the team and experience sailing firsthand. For returning students, details about volunteering have been sent in Discord.
⛵ Practice Schedule
Our first official club practice will be held on:
Date: Monday, August 31
Time: 5:00–7:00 PM
Regular practices will follow the same schedule, Monday-Thursday from 5:00–7:00 PM, weather permitting. Join our google calendar to see sailing events like practices, regattas, and socials! If you’re unable to attend at these times, please reach out to a member of the Executive Board to discuss alternative arrangements.
🏁 Gavin D. Memorial Regatta
We’re thrilled to host our own regatta for the second year in a row.
Dates: September 5–6
Location: Traverse Area Community Sailing Facility, Traverse City, MI
We’re excited to welcome teams from across the region to compete and celebrate the life and legacy of Gavin.
📝 Waivers & Dues
All participants must complete a liability waiver prior to their first sail of the season.
Annual dues are $50 and should be submitted after your first session on the water. They can be paid to @Lillian-Molitor on Venmo. If you’re new and already know you want to join the team, or if you’re a returning sailor, you can fill out the waiver and member application here. If you’re new, also register on Involvement Link. This saves time at the first practice of the season and helps us get you on the water faster!
