Fall 2025 Updates
Dear Sailors,
We hope you’re enjoying a fantastic summer and making the most of your time on the water. As we look ahead to the upcoming semester, we’re excited to share several important updates and events from the Sailing Club.
⚓ Seas the Day: O-Week Sailing Event
We’re thrilled to host a special “Try Sailing” event during Orientation Week!
Date: Thursday, August 21
Time: 3:00–5:00 PM
Location: Between the Super 8 and the Skate park
This is a great opportunity for new members to meet the team and experience sailing firsthand.
🏁 Gavin D. Memorial Regatta
We’re proud to announce our first-ever MCSA regatta, hosted right here in Michigan!
Dates: September 6–7
Location: Traverse Area Community Sailing Facility, Traverse City, MI
Boats: 420s
We’re excited to welcome teams from across the region to compete and celebrate the life and legacy of Gavin.
⛵ Practice Schedule
Our first official club practice will be held on:
Date: Friday, August 22
Time: 5:00–8:00 PM
Regular practices will follow the same schedule, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:00–8:00 PM, weather permitting. From the beginning of the school year to K-Day, we will also hold an additional practice on Thursdays.
📝 Waivers & Dues
All participants must complete a liability waiver prior to their first sail of the season.
Annual dues are $50 and should be submitted after your first session on the water. If you’re new, please register on Involvement Link.

Fall Season Updates
Hi Everyone,
As the fall semester is rapidly approaching, I wanted to give everyone some updates about the club.
Practices:
Our first club practice of the season is going to be on August 28th from 5-8 pm. We will then have practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5-8 pm, weather permitting, until the end of the season. If these times do not work for you, please contact an eboard member, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Waivers & Dues:
All members are required to fill out a liability waiver before their first sail this year. Dues are $50 for the year and are due after your first sail.
Discord:
This year we will be using Discord as our primary tool for club communication. Invitation links can be found on our club’s involvement link page and under the clubs section of the MTU Discord hub.
General Meeting:
We will be having a general club meeting on September 12th in Fisher Hall at 5 pm. Feel free to bring your friends and any questions that you have.

Sailing World College Rankings 2016
Each year, the top colleges in each conference are ranked based on coaches votes. This past Fall, Michigan Tech’s sailing team placed in the top ten for coed teams in the MCSA conference. Congratulations to all of the sailors who raced this season. The link for the rankings is provided below.
