If you would like to sail but do not want to spend the time or money to join the race team, are a grad-student or community member, or are new to sailing then your best option is to join the cruising portion of our club.

Joining:
Simply show up at one of our cruising days to be introduced to some basic sailing skills. Absolutely no experience is necessary to join!

Sailing times:
On Saturdays, the boats will be open to anybody who shows up. We will try to have people available to teach new sailors.
On Sundays, depending on demand, the boats will be open for use, or we will hold club races in Houghton that will be open to all club members, racing and cruising.
If none of these times work for you, alternate times can be worked out to fit your schedule.

Dues:
Dues are $25.00 for fall and $25.00 for the spring/summer.
You are allowed to go sailing twice before you need to pay dues. This $30 also makes you eligible to go on regattas, you simply need to pay each regatta fee of $25. So feel free to try racing and see if you like it!

Learning to sail:
If it is you first time out with us you will need to complete a swimming test (mandatory) and a basic sailing skills test (optional).
From there we will place you in one of the following groups and you can begin learning/sailing.

1. Beginner
2. Crew
 i. Light air
 ii. Heavy air
3. Skipper
